SVRA Atlanta October 2008
This event was somewhat shortened because of the rainout on Friday and the cancellation of the Sunday morning warm up session due to oil on the track that had to be cleaned up prior to the stock cars going out. The drivers and car numbers of those attending were the following, John Cloud #27, Gene Felton #41, Jack Finch # 49, Larry Hoopaugh #74, Maurice Hull #441, Phil Lasko #99, Grant Leadbetter #50, John Orzechowski #69, Wayne Otto #45, and Gary Stach #44.
We did have a celebrity parked in the paddock with us. Across from Jack Finch was Bobby Rahal. Here is a picture of him as well as one of the cars he was racing.
We only had one case of bent metal during the weekend and it was done by Phil Lasko in the #99 car. The first picture shows Phil going through turn 5. The next is a shot of the skid marks on the track and on the grass leading to contact with the concrete barrier just before turn 10A.
The next two pictures show the #99 car being pulled from the gravel pit and up on the wrecker.
The next picture is a close up of the damage as seen in the paddock. Next to that picture is a shot of Jeff Simpson giving his son Griffin some early driver training.
SVRA did not break down the stock cars into the divisions we have with HSR. They simply awrded medals to the first three finishers in Sundays race. The postions were Gene Felton first, Jack Finch second and Maurice Hull third.
