Sebring Fall 2008

A good three days of racing at Sebring. The only weather factor was a one hour delay on Saturday morning due to fog. No major body damage to any of the cars, although John Ware lost part of the left rear quarter panel on his car. Those driving in the event and their cars were: Ed. Bull #77, John Cloud #27,Gene Felton #41, Jack Finch #49, Larry Hoopaugh #74, Robert Mitten #22, John Orzechowski #69,Edgar Otto #43, Wayne Otto #45, Jim Peruto #17, Dale Phelon #66, Joe Pirrotta #28, Don Soenen #26 and John Ware # 19.

Dale Phelon showed up with his #66 truck and ran with the B Class. Don Soenen did not have his #2 car repaired after an incident at VIR, so he brought a spare he had parked in the garage #26.

Race 1 which was run Friday afternoon was won by Wayne Otto, Second Don Soenen and third Gene Felton.

Race 1 B Class winners were Dale Phelon first, Ed Bull second and John Orzechowski third.

Race 2 A Class on Saturday was won by Don Soenen, second Wayne Otto and third Jack Finch.

Race 2 winners B Class were Dale Phelon first, Ed Bull second and Bob Mitten third.

On Saturday evening HSR put on their annual banquet to present awards to the drivers.

A Class point champion was Jack Finch (R), second was John Cloud (L) and third Larry Hoopaugh(C)

B Class point champion was John Orzechowski (R), Tom Salley was second (not present) and Ed Bull was third.

While on the grid for the start of race 3 on Sunday, Bob Mitten's crew chief bet John Orzechowski a dollar that Bob would beat him. It turned out John won but only by the narrowest of margins. Bob's crew chief said only the thickness of the dollar bill separated them as they crossed the finish line.

Of the 14 car field that ran on Friday and Saturday, only 7 cars stayed and started on Sunday. There was some confusion among the race officials about the 5th lap. #17 was black flagged and #26 had a fuel pump problem and came into the pits. The rest of the field followed him in. Once the officials figured it all out the pace car took them back out for two more laps. The winners were A Class John Ware (on right) First B Class Ed Bull, second B Class John Orzechowski and third Bob Mitten
