VIR September 25,26.27 and 28, 2008

The weather was a factor during this event. For those who came for the test day, rain cancelled the last session of the day. We were totally rained out on Friday. Saturday went as planned and on Sunday we were moved to a later time in order to give the track more time to dry after a rain shower about 2PM. The following drivers were at the event.

Bill Bradford #6 John Cloud #27 Stephen Dunn #19 Jack Finch #49 Mark Furcini #42 Steven Graham #71 Larry Hoopaugh #74 Maurice Hull #441 Steve Johnson #44 Marshall McLeod #17 Scott Murphy #30 John Orzechowski #11 Dale Phelon #21 Tom Salley #1 Don Soenen #2

Steve Johnson decided to join us for this event after having run several seasons on the Grand-Am Rolex circuit. Here is his bio.

Biography
Steve Johnson begins his fourth Rolex Series season in 2008 driving for Synergy Racing in GT in the Rolex 24 At Daytona with Patrick Huisman, Robert Doornbos and Richard Lietz.

Personal
Steve Johnson is a former NFL tight end with the New England Patriots and Dallas Cowboys. He is a commercial real estate developer specializing in developing shopping centers in the Southeast U.S. He enjoys spending his free time with his family and three children as well as playing golf.

Steve's weekend was cut short after a fender bender on Saturday afternoon. Here is what the car looked like after.

Saturday afternoon's race got off to a rousing start. It seemed as though the entire 15 car field was trying to go through turn 1 at the same time.

SVRA grouped the A and SA in the same class as SC1. B class was SC2 and Late model stocks were SC3. For awards on Sunday, they gave out an award for first, second and third for SC1. The results of that was First place, Scott Murphy, second Maurice Hull and third Jack Finch.

For SC2 an award was given only for first place. It was won by John Orzechowski. They also gave an award for weekend class champion for each class. It was won by Scott Murphy and John Orzechowski.
